Flora Faund’s The Takeover makes its physical debut at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center.
Fine art photographer Flora Faund has announced the physical debut of her work The Takeover (IT004) in Dark Art 2026, a group exhibition at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center. The exhibition runs from October 2–29, 2026, opening with a public reception during Art Walk on Friday, October 2, 2026.
From Faund’s Iron Tendrils collection, The Takeover confronts the viewer with a dark, psychological paradox hidden inside a stark industrial assembly. The piece isolates a rigid iron valve and a warning cone wrapped tightly in an unspooling yellow plastic barrier ribbon. Through an eerie inversion of utility, the composition explores a hostile duality where the boundary between captor and captive is blurred.
The inverted dynamic continues as the valve appears to hold the cone hostage from within. Faund notes that the piece examines power struggles and parasitic control mechanisms beneath the surface. Prints and the original piece remain available through SBDAC until November 30, 2026.

About the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center
Located in the heart of the Historic River District of Downtown Fort Myers, the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center is housed in one of the city’s most iconic historic landmarks. Originally constructed in 1933 as a U.S. post office and later utilized as a federal courthouse, the Neoclassic Revival building features historic coral-embedded walls and monumental Florida Keys limestone columns. Reopened in 2008 following a massive restoration effort by Florida Arts, Inc., the center operates as a multi-disciplinary hub dedicated to nurturing innovation and excellence across the visual and performing arts.
